Brief History: Born to Roger Tobin, owner of the small chain of Waterfront Hotels, and Angela Marx, renown writer of a series of supernatural novels, Briar was raised in the coastal town of Kennebunkport, Maine. She was the first child born to the couple whos union also produced a son and then another daughter. Being the eldest, Briar, at age 17, started being groomed by her father to eventually take over the business when, and if, he should decide to retire. Those plans seemed to be working out well for the next five years when tragedy suddenly struck the family. Roger Tobin suffered a stroke that left him needing much physical therapy to regain back much of what the stroke had taken from him. It was a learning experience for the entire family. Life was too short, and it was encouraged of their children from that point on to live their lives a little. Do things they had always envisioned doing before settling down into the mainstream of life. And that is exactly what Briar did.

For four years Briar roadtripped it across the states. She never stayed in anyone place for longer then six months, and called Kennebunkport and Europe, where her younger sister had been backpacking her way through the country, quite often to keep in touch with her family. For the past year Briar has been living in the city of Los Angeles, and has recently taken over the running of the LA Animal Rescue Center.

Other Info: Briar is able to communicate with animals, although whether this ability is based on an understanding of animal verbal/non-verbal communication or a form of telepathy is not truly known.

Animals sense that Briar can understand them and almost immediately become very friendly around her. Even with an aggressive or injured animal, Briar can gain that animal’s trust and loyalty. Briar often uses this power to calm down nervous and wounded animals that are brought into the rescue center.

Her natural affinity with animals, along with Briar’s tendency to take in strays, makes animals very accommodating when Briar asks them to do favors for her. It would not be uncommon to find Briar walking the streets of LA at night with a dog or two trailing behind her having seemed to have taken it upon themselves to act as her bodyguards if it is sensed that she might be needing protecting.

Due to her love of animals, Briar is a vegetarian. She also has an affection for old movies, especially the comedies of Abbott and Costello, and the Marx Brothers. When involved with someone, Briar likes to be romanced. She loves receiving flowers from her suitors, roses being her favorites. She likes long walks along the beach with that special someone, and romantic dinners, a plus to that would be if the man cooked the meal himself. Briar is fluent in Spanish, due to a past relationship it's like a second language to her.
